Happy Mardi Gras Mobile Poster

This poster, with its red beaded outline, celebrates Mardi Gras in Mobile, Alabama. The three lower images, Admiral Raphael Semmes on the left, a trolley from Gulf Coast Tours, located in Mobile and seen in the Mobile Mystics parade in 2016, if not other ones, and a replica of the Alabama State Flag on the right, are taken from various floats in the 2016 Carnival season. The jester image at the top is from a parade from a couple of years ago. The purple crown at the top represents the Mobile Carnival Association's King Felix's festive fits of "misrule" during the Carnival season. The striped eyeglasses in the central area represents the throngs of people watching ("eyeing") the parades. While decorated umbrellas are more a part of New Orleans' Mardi Gras, they are seen in Mobile as well, adding a little more character to the happy occasion of frivolity, of letting your hair down, and having some fun for a couple of weeks before going into the more sombre Lenten season before Easter. And the phrase, "Laissez Les Bon Temps Rouler!" translated, means "Let the Good Times Roll!" And the good times do roll many times each year in Mobile, Alabama!
