The Ha'amonga 'a Maui, or 'The Burden of Maui,' is a massive stone trilithon located on the island of Tongatapu. Built in the 13th century, this megalithic structure consists of three coral limestone slabs and is often referred to as the Stonehenge of the Pacific.
Historically, it served as a royal gateway and is believed to have astronomical significance related to the solstices. Standing amidst grassy fields and ancient trees, the monument represents the deep history and architectural prowess of the Tongan Empire.
