The Grumman Goose was developed in 1936 at the request of wealth residents of Long Island, New York to be used to commute to New York City. The aircraft proved to be extremely versatile and was also sued as an amphibious airliner. With the outbreak of World War II the Goose was adopted by the military forces and coast guards of the United States and other nations.
