Van Gogh used butterflies in his works as a symbol of hope. The Death's Head Moth is nocturnal and rarely seen. Behind the moth is a background of Lords and Ladies flowers.
About the artist:
Vincent Willem van Gogh (1853 -1890) was one of the most famous Post Impressionist painters of his era. His work was most notable for its rough beauty, emotional honesty, and bold color.
