Great Lakes freighter Carl D. Bradley Photo Print

Great Lakes steamer Carl D. Bradley, limestone carrier. Lost in a storm on Lake Michigan. Built by: American Shipbuilding Co., Lorain, OH, hull # 797, launched April 9, 1927, as CARL D. BRADLEY for Bradley Transportation Co. of Rogers City, MI. The CARL D. BRADLEY was the largest ship on the Great Lakes at the time of her construction and was acknowledged as the "Queen of the Lakes". Sailed on her maiden voyage arriving at the Port of Calcite on July 28, 1927. Her cargo capacity was 14,000 tons of crushed stone or 12,000 tons of coal. Shortly after 5:30 pm on November 18, 1958, the CARL D. BRADLEY broke up and foundered in a gale that generated up to 60 mph winds on northern Lake Michigan 12 miles southwest of Gull Island. Of the 35 crew members on board at the time of the sinking, only 2 survived this tragedy; the CARL D. BRADLEY now rests at a depth of 360 feet broken into two sections.

Hi, this photo-poster is now located on my refrigerator. I thought it was going to be a poster-size poster because I don't understand the metric measurements that are posted on the website. It turned out to be the size of a photo and now has a place of honour on my fridge. Was originally intended for a friend, but I thought it applied to me too: "World's Best Cat Mom"! There a lot of us out there! The printing was excellent -- vivid colour; sharp contrast.
