It shows a beautiful woman in ancient Rome standing next to the memorial of a loved one who has recently died. She is holding flowers in her hand as symbols of remembrance for the bereaved. The woman is wearing a long green dress; she is also wearing elegant jewellery. The grave of her loved one is an impressive and imposing structure. The original artwork was painted by John William Waterhouse in 1874.

Most condolence cards inscriptions seem too impersonal to me; it's hard to find one right for expressing sympathy with someone who has experienced a death, serious illness or other loss. I liked the ray of light on this card, suggesting a path forward. I was a little surprised when the card arrived to realize it is actually not a card that opens, but just a card, with space on back to write -- so this is most appropriate for short note rather than letter. Quite a lovely photo, and I like the flower detail on reverse side of card.
