Goldthread (Coptis trifolia) is a very tiny plant which only grows a few inches tall. Goldthread is found in the tundra on the mountains of Unalaska Island. Goldthread is a member of the crowfoot sedge or buttercup family. Goldthread is named for its root system, which resembles a thread. Goldthread produces a single blossom with only a few leaves around the base of the stem.
