Golden Lion Tamarin, Golden Marmoset Monkey Brazil Postcard

The Golden Lion Tamarin, also known as the Golden Marmoset, is a beautiful, small monkey that lives exclusively in the forests along the far southeastern border of Brazil. It is a New World monkey, described as: New World monkeys are the five families of primates that are found in Central and South America: Callitrichidae, Cebidae, Aotidae, Pitheciidae, and Atelidae. The five families are ranked together as the Platyrrhini parvorder and the Ceboidea superfamily, which are essentially synonymous since Ceboidea is the only living platyrrhine superfamily.[3] They differ from other groupings of monkeys and primates, such as the Old World monkeys and the apes. The Marmoset is the largest of the callitrichines (one of the five species of New World monkeys) but only weighs an average of 1.37 lbs. This photo is that of a marmoset I photographed at the Kansas City Zoo. I was drawn by its gorgeous, firey red coat and intelligent eyes. This would be a great gift for anyone who lives in or loves Brazil, or loves monkeys like this beautiful little guy.
