"Go confidently in the direction of your dreams"-- Words of wisdom from 19th Century writer Henry David Thoreau. The shadow of an Australian Camel against red clay soil. Image taken in the Outback at Boulia, Queensland, Australia by Nellie Bloom. Poster concept and design by Minerva Bloom. Camels were imported into Australia, beginning in the mid-1800s, to help lay the foundations of the nation. Shipments came largely from the Indian subcontinent, but animals were also landed from Muscat, Yemen, Iraq and the Canary Islands.
