Females can grow up to 14 feet long and can weigh more than 1,900 pounds, though the average runs more around 11 feet long and 300-ish pounds. A deep blue on top and silvery-white beneath, with a pronounced dorsal fin and a long, lethal, spear-shaped upper jaw (that some refer to as a bill), blue marlins are one of the most easily identifiable and recognizable fish in the world. Marlins are renown for their incredible stamina in a fight when they are hooked, which makes them a trophied favourite of big game fishermen.
