Chahut (Le Chahut), painted by Georges Seurat in 1889–1890, shows women and men performing the cancan in a Paris dance hall. Repeated high kicks, warm artificial light and a strict pattern of coloured dots turn the energetic nightlife scene into a carefully ordered Neo-Impressionist composition. This oil on canvas is held by the Kröller-Müller Museum.
