According to the Catechism, Confirmation bestows on confirmands the graces of the Holy Spirit that were granted to the Apostles on Pentecost Sunday--the very first Confirmation. + The Confirmation items in this series feature tongues of fire or flame with inscribed white banderoles or ribbons: a larger flame for the Gifts of the Holy Spirit in general surrounded by 7 smaller flames, each devoted to one of them.
