This 1892 lithograph by Joseph E Baker may be fanciful, but it makes a point: witch hunts were real. Some people may like to say that every question asked is a "witch hunt," but in 1692-1693, 200 people were accused and 20 were murdered by a bunch of self-righteous, infighting Puritans over which preacher was right and whose sheep could graze where. Genealogists know this. Some of us even descend from one or both sides of the whole mess. Let's keep history in mind, and wear the truth with a little snark: we know real witch hunts.
