Ganesha (or Ganesh), the elephant headed god is one of the best known deities in the Hindu pantheon, but also worshipped by Buddhists. He is revered as the Lord of Beginnings, Remover of Obstacles, patron of arts and sciences, and the deva of intellect and wisdom. He is honoured at the start of rituals and ceremonies and invoked as Patron of Letters during writing sessions.
