Futurescape redgum tree, environmental message poster

Walking along a dry riverbed in the Flinders Ranges of South Australia I came across this massive fallen red gum tree. It seemed to still have a voice, beast like in form, resisting final decay. I saw an opportunity to paint a work with an environmental message. The glass case represents the notion of too little too late. Just like the Tasmanian Tiger we may in the distant future,only be able to view these magnificent specimens in a "display case". The small boy represents future generations. The recipient of "the legacy" we often hear prominant people speak of.
