This pattern is good for both boys and girls. “Shippou” refers to the “Seven Treasures” that appear in Buddhist scriptures: gold, silver, lapis lazuli, coral, crystal, agate, and mother-of-pearl. The pattern depicts interlocking circles symbolizing wishes for fulfilment, harmony, and connections. Moreover, these connections are considered to hold equal value to the “Seven Treasures.” In Japan, this pattern is used in the design of auspicious kimono for celebratory occasions and in various celebratory items.
