Franz Xaver Winterhalter- The Maharaja Dalip Singh Postcard

This Orientalism portrait masterpiece titled, The Maharaja Dalip Singh is made by the famous painter, Franz Xaver Winterhalter using oil on canvas in 1854. He trained as a draughtsman and lithographer in the workshop of Karl Ludwig Schüler in Freiburg. In 1823, at the age of eighteen, he went to Munich, sponsored by the industrialist Baron von Eichtal .
