Franz Xaver Winterhalter- The First of May Postcard

This Romanticism portrait masterpiece titled, The First of May is made by the famous painter, Franz Xaver Winterhalter using oil on canvas in 1851. He trained as a draughtsman and lithographer in the workshop of Karl Ludwig Schüler in Freiburg. In 1823, at the age of eighteen, he went to Munich, sponsored by the industrialist Baron von Eichtal .
