This Neoclassicism portrait titled, Alfred Emilien, Comte de Nieuwerkerke is made by the famous painter, Franz Xaver Winterhalter using oil on canvas in 1852. He trained as a draughtsman and lithographer in the workshop of Karl Ludwig Schüler in Freiburg. In 1823, at the age of eighteen, he went to Munich, sponsored by the industrialist Baron von Eichtal .
