The scythe crest. Originally, the scythe was considered almost a sacred object in the Suwa shrine. For example, in the Suwa shrines of the provinces of Satsuma, Osumi, and Hyuga, a scythe is usually enshrined as a sacred object. The Suwa Myojin is revered not only as a god of war but also as a wind god. In areas around the Suwa shrine, such as the provinces of Kai, Sagami, Suruga, Kozuke, Echigo, Etchu, Hida, Totomi, Mikawa, Owari, and Mino, there is a custom of tying a scythe to the top of a pole and standing it in the direction from which the wind is blowing to ward off strong winds. I absolutely love this product! I was a little concerned prior to buying it, but I was blown away by the quality of the item. The bowl is sturdy and arrived clean without any damage. The printing was crisp and clean and looks Better than I hoped! My dogs immediately knew these were for them and get very excited to pose with their new bowls! What an excellent useful personalised gift for a friend's much loved white full sized poodle. Good size dish, nice quality and heavy weight so it won't be pushed around too much!! I will likely order another (from Zazzles' UK site which I've used in the past for other items) for a friend there - with black labs in Xmas cap on it - what fun.!! As always - fast shipment from Zazzle - great company to deal with!! Printing was exactly as ordered. Very Nice.
