Four actors (right to left): an actor in the role of Kurando Yukinaga; two actors in the roles of Saitogo Kunitake and a female Buddhist devotee; an actor in the role of Osadanotaro Nagamune, by Japanese woodblock print artist and painter Utagawa Kuniyoshi. Vertical Oban Nishikie triptych in 3 sections. Colour woodblock print, 1847 or 1848. 35.5 x 73.6 cm (whole image), 34.9 x 24.3 cm (left panel), 35.1 x 24.8 cm (centre panel), 35.5 x 24.5 (right panel) Utagawa Kuniyoshi (ca. 1797 - April 14, 1861) was one of the last great masters of the Japanese ukiyo-e style of woodblock prints and painting and belonged to the Utagawa school.
