Fountain of Neptune in the Piazza Navona - Rome Tile

This ceramic tile features the Fountain of Neptune in Piazza Navona illuminated at night, bringing its dramatic marble figures into relief against the surrounding palaces. The basin was designed by Giacomo della Porta in 1574 following restoration of the Acqua Virgo, yet its major sculpture groups were added much later. Antonio Della Bitta supplied Neptune fighting an octopus and Gregorio Zappalà created the complementary figures in the nineteenth century.
