Fort Point Coast Guard Station, Golden Gate Bridge Postcard
Fort Point Coast Guard Station, neatly tucked beneath the Golden Gate Bridge, was completed in 1861. During the Civil War it served to protect the west coast from Confederate naval attacks. In 1890 it became Fort Point Lifeboat Station and from 1939- 1960 Fort Point Coast Guard Station. It is currently part of Fort Point National Historic Site within Golden Gate National Recreation Area in San Francisco, California.
