Detail of the former head office of the Holland America Line (HAL) on the Wilhelmina quay in Rotterdam. Emigrant ships to Ellis Island departed from this quay, and the HAL building was often the last thing that emigrants saw of the old world. The building is now a hotel (Hotel New York).
