This design features the national flag of Afghanistan (officially known as the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan), which is a landlocked country at the crossroads of Central and South Asia. Afghanistan is bordered by Pakistan to the east and south; Iran to the west; Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan to the north; and China to the northeast. Afghanistan is a mountainous country with plains in the north and southwest. The population of Afghanistan is composed mostly of ethnic Pashtuns, Tajiks, Hazaras and Uzbeks. The capital city of Afghanistan is Kabul, which is also the country's largest city. Other major cities in Afghanistan include Kandahar, Herat, Mazar-i-Sharif, Kunduz, Jalalabad, Taloqan, Puli Khumri, Ghazni and Khost.
