Fishing Boats on Saintes-Maries Beach - Van Gogh Coffee Mug

Immerse yourself with Vincent van Gogh's Fishing Boats on the Beach at Saintes-Maries (1888) painting while you have your cup of morning coffee, your afternoon tea, or your night time hot chocolate in Van Gogh beautiful painting of the calm Saintes-Maries Beach fine art mug. This elegant Impressionist drinking mug sparkles with class and ageless beauty. 🖼️ In June 1888, Van Gogh took a bus through the Camargue, which reminded him of Holland, to reach Les Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer, a town on the Mediterranean coast. The area was well known for its fishing fleet, oddly shaped thatched roofs, fortified cathedral, and fortified churches with ship-inspired architecture. Van Gogh captured each of these. The sea and the colourful boats, though, were the area's distinctive opportunities. Between 1881 and 1883, Van Gogh frequently visited Scheveningen, a fishing village and holiday spot on the North Sea adjacent to The Hague. As he painted the big fishing smacks that had washed up on the surrounding shore, Van Gogh imitated the Hague School painters Henrik Mesdag and Anton Mauve. His debut into maritime painting in June 1888 recalls both their iconography and Van Gogh's own early excursions into this subject. In a letter on this seashore outing, he compares Les Saintes-Maries to Dutch seascape, noting that the main distinction is that Dutch seascape has more vivid hues. You will undoubtedly enjoy Van Gogh’s sophisticated painting of Fishing Boats on the Beach at Saintes-Maries (1888) on your mug. I was originally happy about my purchase and Nana loved the gift. HOWEVER, the description specifically says that these are microwave and dishwasher safe, BUT the first time Nana put this mug in the dishwasher it was destroyed. Not impressed..
