About This Design

First Mourning Poster

This is a reproduction of William Adolphe Bouguereau's First Mourning of 1888. The French Academecian chose an unusual scene, the reaction of Adam and Eve to the death of their son Abel. Abel was not only the victim of the first murder, he was the first person to experience death according to the traditions of Judaism, Christianity and Islam. The Christian also consider him the first martyr. The painting appears to avoid the drama of many depictions of death and very simply portrays the grief of the first parents. Bouguereau painted this after the death of his second son, a fact which had greater pathos to the scene.

My Bible verse postcard, turned out excellent. I love it and have it already framed. It was so reasonably priced for something done so well. Thank you to Zazzle and the artist! I thought it looked exactly like what I ordered. Perfect.

Nice poster with all the 48 high peaks of New-Hampshire. Just need to put a little sticker when you hiked them. Also got the ADK46 poster... Super well printed, great quality paper and colors. Nothing is blured. All vivid colors.

The poster was made for my son’s baptism and it looked so beautiful on the cake table for the reception! Great quality and looked amazing in a simple white frame.
