The Fibonacci sequence is Mother Nature's numbering system. It's everywhere in Nature, from the arrangement of leafs in plants, to the pattern of the florets of a flower, the faces of a pinecone, or a pineapple's scales. The Fibonacci sequence is applicable to the growth of every living thing, including a single cell, a grain of wheat, a hive of bees, and even all of mankind. Starting with 0 and 1, each new number in the sequence is simply the sum of the two before it. 0, 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21, 34, 55, 89, 144. The Fibonacci sequence is named after Leonardo Pisano. Scholars misinterpreted part of the title of his manuscript about the subject as "filius Bonacci" meaning "son of Bonaccio" – as his surname, and Fibonacci was born.

I was originally happy about my purchase and Nana loved the gift. HOWEVER, the description specifically says that these are microwave and dishwasher safe, BUT the first time Nana put this mug in the dishwasher it was destroyed. Not impressed..
