About This Design

Fantail Piwakawaka Tile

A playful scene of a fantail, also known as pīwakawaka, chasing a mosquito in the air. This artwork depicts the agility and curiosity of this small, native bird of New Zealand, which has a distinctive fanned tail and a loud song. The fantail is one of the most common and widely distributed birds in the country, and often approaches people within a metre or two. Part of my NZbirds art series.
