This is a vintage Victorian illustration from a card illustrating Faith, Hope, and Charity that are the Christian values associated with salvation. "And now abideth faith, hope, and love, even these three: but the chiefest of these is love" (from Corinithians 13:13). The word "love" was used by all the English translators in the 16th century. The King James version prefer the more theological term "Charity" for the same idea of specifically Christian love. Theological Virtues in art are often depicted as young women.
