Erie, Pennsylvania Mug

Erie, Pennsylvania Mug

Launched in 1843, the USS “Michigan” was the Navy’s first iron hull warship. Her name was changed to “Wolverine” in 1905. Being stationed at Erie, Pennsylvania, she operated on the Great Lakes until 1923. Unable to secure funds for her restoration she was sold for scrap in 1949. Her prow was preserved however and can be seen at the Erie Maritime Museum.
