This endangered yellow-eyed penguin is one of only three species of New Zealand Penguins. This one was spotted near Katiki Point Lighthouse (also called Moeraki Lighthouse). Yellow-eyed penguins are only found on the southeastern coast of the South Island and three nearby smaller islands: Stewart Island, Auckland Islands, and Campbell Island.
