Eglinton Castle – Montgomery Clan Coaster

Eglinton is the ancient home of the clan chief, the Earl of Eglinton. The current structure is a Gothic castellated style, built between 1797 and 1802. The original castle was burnt by the Earl of Glencairn in 1528. The Montgomerys' first holdings were the Barony of Eaglesham and its Castle of Polnoon. It is located near Kilwinning, North Ayrshire, Scotland, and is open to the public as part of Eglinton Country Park.
