Ebi-no maru golf balls
The 'ebi-no maru' (circle of prawn) crest is used by the family of Emi and Ohashi. It is a symbol of longevity, like pine and bamboo, and is used for New Year's decorations and celebrations. (from 'Nihon no Monsho' edited by Kosaku Ito). The prawn has been used as a New Year's gate decoration since ancient times as an auspicious animal, along with pine and bamboo. Using it as a crest is likely based on this auspicious significance. The Ebina family used it due to the symbolic significance related to their surname. (from 'Nihon Monshogaku' by Raisuke Numata)
