East Burke Vermont, Burke Mountain Postcard

Ironically, Burke Mountain has by far been the hardest mountain for me to capture in paint over the years. For the past six years I have lived on a hill top overlooking this large ski mountain in East Burke Vermont. I've probably tried painting it twenty times over that period of time and I would say most of those were failed attempts. This painting I feel finally does the mountain some justice. It's an original watercoor landscape painting done in the studio. For this painting I realized where the other burke paintings were going wrong. In those I had the mountain much more squished up looking a bit like a valcano. In this one I feel I finally got the long arching massive shape looking about right.
