East Bay Hills in Summer Postcard

In many ways, summer is my least favourite season to photograph in California's Bay Area. The grass dies, the clouds vanish, and thick fog shrouds the coastline. It becomes quite a challenge to find scenes to photograph which don't all end up looking the same. However, summer is one of my favourite seasons to be photographing in the Bay Area. While the landscape lacks the drama of winter, it possesses a unique sereneness. At sunset, the sun is bright and cheerful, yet gentle. The winds are crisp, but not spiteful. It's a great time and place to be outside. That is what I hope this photo captures – the splendour of the experience of the East Bay in summer, not so much the landscape.
