Dunrobin Castle – Clan Sutherland Jigsaw Puzzle

Dunrobin Castle is the seat of Clan Sutherland and one of the great houses in the Scotland. It is located a mile north of Golspie, and most of the castle is relatively new, dating from the 1800s. However, the lands of Sutherland, as much as one million acres, were acquired before 1211 by Hugh, Lord of Duffus, grandson of the Flemish nobleman Freskin. Hugh’s son William became the first Earl of Sutherland about 1235. The Earldom of Sutherland can descend to either a male or female. The castle and its garden are open for tours.
