Doorways of the Stockade 24" x 36" poster

"Doorways of the Stockade - Schenectady, New York" features 37 full colour photographs by Upstate New York historian and writer Richard Vang. One America's oldest residential neighbourhoods, the Stockade has been continuously occupied since the 1660's. Originally a Dutch colonial stockaded settlement, the neighbourhood was the first registered historical district in New York State. Its homes date back to the 16th and 17th centuries, though extensive fires and modern progress have reshaped the neighbourhood and its residential, civic and commercial buildings. Though historical purists consider the Stockade to consist of the confines of the orignal walls of the settlement, the neighbourhood is now bordered by Erie Boulevard (the original Erie Canal before it was filled in) to the east, Washington Street (George Washington slept here) to the west, State Street to the south, and the Mohawk River to the north. Schenectady was home to many of the leading citizens of the United States, as it was the birthplace of General Electric and the American Locomotive Company, thus earning the nickname, "The City that Lights and Hauls the World." The homes depicted here are representative of the many types of arcitecture found in the Stockade; colourful doors, gates, and porches provide a wealth of detail and craftsmanship and a striking contrast between the old and the new, Victorian elegance and Colonial simplicity. Schenectady's Stockade neighbourhood is a magical place, one that transports the visitor back in time. 24" x 36".

My Bible verse postcard, turned out excellent. I love it and have it already framed. It was so reasonably priced for something done so well. Thank you to Zazzle and the artist! I thought it looked exactly like what I ordered. Perfect.

Poster is printed clearly, good quality . Inclusive of many prints . The shipping was the problem. Box was flimsy and item got bent.. only suggestion would have been to put in a canister or mark fragile. Printing was exactly as shown
