This vintage painting, called "Best Friends," shows the loving relationship of young owner and his dog. The dog rests his paw its masters knee and the dog and boy look at one another. This is a beautiful painting, painted in 1908 by the American genre painter John George Brown (1831-1913).
John George Brown was born to a poor family in England and he came to America when he was twenty one or twenty two. He was one of the most successful genre painters in 19th century America, specializing in children, pets, street urchins and shoeshine boys.
