She is holding the strap of her bookbag with one hand, while the other hand is touching the beloved ear of her dog. The Saint Bernard walks by her side, carrying an umbrella for her in his mouth. I can't help but smile at the way in which this magnificent pet Saint Bernard dog is taking care of the girl. The artist, Charles Burton Baker, shows us the gentle nobility of the Saint Bernard, along with the special relationship of the dog and the girl.
