This piece is inspired by an idea of CS Lewis', that when we first become Christians, we understand what God is doing in our lives: working, for example, on our major character flaws and dealing with our sin. Later, when things become more complicated and more confused, we understand less. But that is because instead of just renovating the cottage of our lives, God wants to build a mansion in which to live in Himself.
