Devil's Den - Note Card #2

These granite monoliths are all that remain of ancient mountains, worn down to remnants by air and water. This photo, taken at Gettysburg National Military Park in Pennsylvania, is of the Devil's Den, located some 900 yards from Little Round Top. The stark beauty of the landscape bears little resemblance to the battlefield that earned this area its ominous name. The verse is from William Wordsworth's 'The Primrose of the Rock'.
