Venice Plein Air is an amazing sketch painted with bright watercolors by the artist, Samuel Dixon. The painting depicts a Venetian waterway complete with traditional gondolas and the shapes of people overlooking the water from one of the city's many bridges. Although clearly a sketch, the colours blend in a way that captures the ephemerality of a Venetian scene, the water is always flowing and the formless people come and go. The painting itself however is timeless, especially if you get it on one of many great products like postcards, posters, luggage tags and much more. I was looking for a cheerful, vibrantly coloured, fun, extra large , MCM designed mug for my first coffee of the day. This fits the bill! The print is purrfect and the colours are SO vibrant. The design definitely gives a true MCM vibe. The placement of the art is the only negative for me. I would prefer the main image be on opposite sides of the mug, rather than placed so close together, and not able to be seen by the drinker (me!) or the person opposite me (if there is one :-).
