Desert Southwest Sotol Plants Scenic Image Arizona Poster

Image of a pair of Common Sotol plants, botanical name Dasylirion wheeleri, aka Desert Spoon, with blue green foliage, reaching for the sky along the trail to the Solado Indian ruins in the Tonto National Monument in Roosevelt, Arizona. The Common Sotol is native to arid environments of northern Mexico, in Chihuahua and Sonora and in the southwestern United States, in the Sonoran Desert in Arizona, and also in New Mexico and Texas. The hike to the Salado Indian ruins in the upper desert is well worth the effort, and the trail is paved and a fairly easy climb. Beautiful views of Roosevelt Lake abound along the trail.
