Della Robbia Virgin of the Lilies Fruits Christmas Ornament Card

A flat reproduction of "The Virgin of the Lilies", a beautiful Renaissance basorelief of Madonna and the Child Jesus by the Della Robbia workshop. Virgin Mary, seen from profile, looks tenderly her baby Jesus, on their sides there are two white lilies. The characters and the lily flowers are white, the background is blue. They are surrounded by two circular frames: a brown scales frame (resembling pine cones) inside and a Della Robbia fruit garland outside. In the fruit garland, among green leaves, there are yellow quinces, pine cones, wheat ears and small blue flowers. On the back, there is a message, white on blue, in an elegant calligraphy, surrounded by the same fruit garland. The Renaissance tondo basorelief "The Virgin of the Lilies", created in the Della Robbia family workshop in Florence in the 15th century, is now in the public domain.
