Defence of Rorke's Drift Poster

Defence of Rorke's Drift Poster

The Battle of Rorke's Drift took place on January 22-23, 1879, during the Anglo-Zulu War, just hours after the disastrous Battle of Isandlwana. It is one of the most celebrated episodes in British military history. After the British defeat at Isandlwana, a small contingent of British and colonial troops, led by Lieutenant John Chard and Lieutenant Gonville Bromhead, found themselves at the remote mission station of Rorke's Drift, which was now under threat from a Zulu force. The Zulu warriors, numbering in the thousands, attacked the fortified position at Rorke's Drift throughout the night. Despite being heavily outnumbered, the British defenders displayed extraordinary courage and resilience. They used the hastily constructed barricades and the limited ammunition they had to repel wave after wave of Zulu attacks. The battle raged on for approximately 10 hours, and by dawn, the Zulu forces withdrew, leaving behind many dead and wounded. In the end, the British and colonial defenders at Rorke's Drift emerged victorious, with only 17 of their men killed and several more wounded, compared to the estimated 350-500 Zulu casualties. The heroism and determination displayed by the defenders of Rorke's Drift became a source of national pride in Britain and garnered widespread recognition. Eleven Victoria Crosses, the highest military decoration in the British Empire, were awarded to the defenders of Rorke's Drift for their remarkable bravery. The battle's legacy endures as a symbol of the indomitable spirit and resourcefulness of British soldiers in the face of overwhelming odds.

My Bible verse postcard, turned out excellent. I love it and have it already framed. It was so reasonably priced for something done so well. Thank you to Zazzle and the artist! I thought it looked exactly like what I ordered. Perfect.

Poster is printed clearly, good quality . Inclusive of many prints . The shipping was the problem. Box was flimsy and item got bent.. only suggestion would have been to put in a canister or mark fragile. Printing was exactly as shown
