Declaration of Arbroath Scottish Tea Towel

Declaration of Arbroath Scottish Tea Towel

This tea towel for supporters of Scottish independence features the famous words from the Declaration of Arbroath originally written in Latin and signed on April 6th, 1320, at Arbroath Abbey, six years after Robert the Bruce defeated the English at Bannockburn in 1314. It reads 'For as long as but a hundred of us remain alive, never will we on any conditions be brought under English rule. It is in truth not for glory, nor riches, nor honours that we are fighting, but for freedom - for that alone, which no honest man gives up but with life itself.' At the top of the design is an illustration of a single thistle, the national flower of Scotland. Beneath the stirring words of the declaration of Scottish independence is a graphic of the Scottish flag, also known as the Saltire, with the white St Andrews Cross on a dark blue background. The 700th anniversary of the Battle of Bannockburn takes place this year. The referendum on independence for Scotland from the Westminster government is being held on 18th September, when people living and working in Scotland will vote on our country's future as an independent nation.

I was actually surprised by the quality. The material feels like it can handle the wash and the print seems to be set deep in the fibers. BUT I have not washed it yet. The printing was accurate and looks like it can handle washing.
