This colourized pencil sketch shows a male and female seahorse engaged in what is known as a “pre-dawn dance". During this time they may change colour, swim side by side holding tails or grip the same strand of sea grass with their tails and wheel around in unison before eventually engaging in a “true courtship dance" lasting about 8 hours. Seahorse habitats are in great danger. Coral reefs and seagrass beds are deteriorating, meaning seahorses have fewer places to live. They're also used in Chinese Medicine and as souvenirs, which cuts their population down significantly each year. I ordered these with interiors of yellow, red, maroon, pink, navy blue, and light blue. Note that the navy blue is VERY dark and looks black in some lighting.
