An old photograph of Damascus Gate in Jerusalem ( the holy land ). The photo was taken in 1857 by James Robertson, a British photographer who was one of the first pioneers who visited the holy land with their camera and brought its sceneries to the people of Europe and America. Damascus Gate is also known as "Nablus Gate" (Sha'ar Shechem in Hebrew), as it is facing north, towards the old route from Jerusalem and Nablus (biblical Shechem).
