Daffodil and its meaning holiday card

The flower symbolism associated with the daffodil is regard, unrequited love, chivalry, sunshine, respect and the sun shines when I'm with you. Though the traditional daffodil of folklore, poetry, and field may have a yellow to golden-yellow colour all over, both in the wild species and due to breeding, the daffodil may be variously coloured. Breeders have developed some daffodils with double, triple, or ambiguously multiple rows of petals, and several wild species also have known double variants. In mythology, the daffodil is described as a pale yellow deathless kind of lily flower that overspreads the plains of Hades and is the favourite food of the dead. The English name is derived from the flower name, from Latin asphodelus, from asphodelos, meaning "asphodel flower." Daffodils are also known by the English name derived from the Latin juncus, meaning "rush."
